A minibar in hotel works 24 hours a day, every day. In a 200-room hotel, the difference between minibar cooling technologies can cost you thousands of euros every year on your electricity bill.

An inverter compressor minibar consumes about 0.13 kWh per day. The compressor changes its speed based on the need, instead of turning on and off. This is how it reaches A+++ energy class while staying at 26-29 dB. A guest sleeping next to the minibar will not hear it.

A peltier(thermoelectric) minibar consumes about 0.275 kWh per day. It has no compressor and no gas, so the purchase price is low.  The problem is that the module needs power all the time to keep the temperature, and it works poorly when the room gets hot in summer.

An absorption minibar consumes about 0.9 kWh per day. It is 100% silent. There is not one moving part inside, and this is why many five-star hotels still choose it. That silence has a price, and the price is energy.

Per minibar, per year: about 47 kWh for inverter, 100 kWh for peltier, 328 kWh for absorption. Multiply this by your room count and your local electricity price in the calculator above, and you will see the real total cost of a hotel minibar.

Our honest advice: if you plan to keep your hotel for five years or more, an inverter compressor minibar pays back its price in a few seasons.

Absorption minibar is the right choice when total silence is a must.

Peltier(thermoelectric) minibar is another silent option in a mid-range hotel, but check your summer room temperatures first.
